Our mission

We were founded to raise awareness of Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC), provide extra care for the animals at the shelter beyond the city’s resources, and help more animals find new homes.

Events

We create and promote interesting events to raise awareness of FCACC, adopt out animals, and raise some extra dollars as well. We've accomplished good things for the animals--and made terrific friends in the process.

At the shelter

We work with shelter management and staff to figure out how we can best help the animals in their care. Many Friends members volunteer at the shelter and learn first-hand what is needed through their ongoing work. Their involvement helps us direct our funds wisely.

Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control (FCACC)

Friends of Chicago Animal Care & Control was founded on July 11, 2001, by Ms. Charlie Propsom, Dr. Jim Dickes, and Ms. Paula Rounds. Today, Charlie, Jim, and 9 other elected members serve on the main board of directors. Associate board members meet with and work on projects with main board members.A nyone who is interested may file an application to join the Associate board. Meetings are usually held once a month and the location varies. A donation of $50 is requested for Associate board membership. We suggest that you come to a meeting or two to see if we meet each other's needs. Then sign on and pay your dues if we’re a good fit and your application is approved. Together we can save the lives of more of the city’s neediest animals!
